University of Southern Queensland AI acknowledgement

Each UniSQ task sheet says whether and how AI may be used. When it is allowed, you must still acknowledge and properly cite the tools, following the library guides, and keep drafts and evidence of your process.

The rules at a glance

When you need one
Whenever AI tools are used in an assessment where the Course Coordinator permits it.
Framework
AI use levels 0-3 shown on task sheets (Level 0 none; Level 1 e.g. grammar checks, coherence and flow; Level 2 e.g. generating ideas, research, draft outline; Level 3 listed tasks with an explanation of AI use). A newer page refers to two assessment categories, Verified and Open.
Prompts and outputs
Capture, store and be ready to share evidence such as screenshots, downloads and drafts; keep draft versions to show the work is your own.
Referencing
Cite AI tools properly according to UniSQ library guidelines; the presentation shows in-text citations like (OpenAI, 2023). No full reference format given in the sources.
Must include
  • which AI tools were used
  • description and justification of how AI was used (for higher levels)
Also note
  • Use AI only as the assessment task sheet allows; ask the course examiner/coordinator if unsure
  • AI embedded in Microsoft, Apple and Grammarly products counts; not knowing AI changed your work is no excuse
  • Presenting AI-generated work as your own without attribution is academic misconduct (plagiarism)
  • Failure to reference AI correctly can lead to misconduct penalties
  • You remain responsible for checking AI output accuracy
