University of New England AI acknowledgement
From Trimester 1, 2026 UNE sorts assessments into Assurance Tasks (secure; AI only if explicitly allowed) and Learning Tasks (open; AI always allowed). Whenever you use AI in any task you must reference it, and you stay responsible for what you submit.

University of New England doesn't publish a fixed template, so this uses a general format that covers what it asks for.
The rules at a glance
- When you need one
- Whenever AI is used in completing any assessment task, including Learning Tasks where AI is always permitted.
- Framework
- UNE Assessment Architecture: Assurance Tasks ('Lane 1', secure) and Learning Tasks ('Lane 2', open)
- Referencing
- Cite AI-generated content as you would any other source; no specific style or example format given.
- Must include
- AI model, version or tool used
- clear indication of where AI contributed
- Also note
- In Assurance Tasks AI is only allowed where explicitly permitted; unauthorised tools are academic misconduct
- Do not copy-paste AI output and claim it as your own without acknowledgement
- Madgwick Student is UNE's approved AI platform and the only one approved for University data or materials
- Be cautious sharing sensitive or personal information with AI tools
- Contact your Unit Coordinator if unsure about appropriate use
