The rules at a glance

When you need one
Every time a generative AI tool is used, in assessments and other work (students and staff).
Framework
Bond University AI Assessment Framework: Category 1 AI-Prohibited (AI-P), Category 2 AI-Supported (AI-S), Category 3 AI-Focussed (AI-F)
Where it goes
Not fixed; AI-Supported task sheets include declarations of use, and a Statement of Authorship must be submitted with every assessable piece of work.
Referencing
Cite and reference AI output following the Bond Library Gen-AI Referencing FAQ and its style guides (updated each semester). The page itself uses an in-text personal-communication style, e.g. (CoPilot, personal communication, 21 March 2025).
Must include
  • when AI was used
  • how AI was used
Also note
  • Use AI only where the educator and the assessment's AI category allow it; AI-Prohibited assessments ban all AI tools
  • Do not use AI to translate your work into English (single words or phrases as a dictionary are OK)
  • Do not copy and paste AI output into an assessment; using AI as a replacement for your work is misconduct
  • Do not upload class materials, library resources, client or personal information to AI tools
  • DeepSeek is prohibited; no university content may be shared into non-preferred tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini
  • The University is updating AI-powered plagiarism detection tools to identify inappropriate use
